We have seen the trailers for it, and thought it looked cute, but then someone warned us that it was not all it’s cracked up to be. (is it true that it pushed the gay/lesbian agenda pretty strongly in parts??). Unfortunately, though, whey didn’t have a whole lot of detail as to why it wasn’t any good. I appreciate your biblical perpesctive, and boldness to speak the truth! This is a movie we will NOT be seeing. And I will advise my family of the same. Thank you!

]]> By: maryellenhuff https://jarodhinton.com/a-tale-of-two-movies/#comment-780 Wed, 22 Nov 2006 05:26:00 +0000 https://preacherdad.com/a-tale-of-two-movies/#comment-780 Thank you VERY much Jarod for letting us know about “Happy Feet.”  We are extremely careful what we let our four kids watch and so far 99% of the time anything rated PG has been out.  I/we never take them to see a movie without reading the review about it on Focus on the Family’s website.  Anything with sexual undertones of any kind, language, wrong messages being sent, etc. are out.  Looks like this is another one we will not be seeing.  I learned a long time ago, before we had kids, that just because something is animated or has  the Disney label on it does not mean it’s automatically OK for kids to see it.  I just wish a lot more parents would be better informed.  I really appreciate your warning.

Rick and I plan on seeing Facing the Giants, I’ve heard great things about the movie and that is the kind of movie and message we want to support.  I’m glad you passed it along to others.

It is so true that the world bombards us with its agendas in seemingly harmless cartoons. The sad thing is that the kids that watch a movie like that will take in the philosophies of the movie makers without even a second thought…

Facing the giant’s sounds good though, we’ll have to check it out.

…i just get upset with people who teach unbiblical doctrine like it’s gospel truth. It’s like, the damage has been done because people will hear it and run with it. AND – when they finally do hear some sound Christ-centered teaching, they label the preacher as overly zealous and “holier than thou”. It’s a viscious cycle.

Frankly, i’m not surprised that Happy Feet was what it was. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I would raise a family if God blesses me with a wife and child(ren)…and that is exactly the kind of movie that I wouldn’t want my child (let alone any child) to see.

I haven’t heard about “Facing the giants”, but it is definitely a movie that I wouldn’t mind going out to see. I may make it a family trip for this weekend when i’m with the family in new york. Is strong christian content the actual reason why the movie was rated pg?

On a side note: I actually have a tshirt that labels the wearer as being rated “JC” for strong christian content. Don’t wear it around much because it’s hard to witness to people when your tshirt turns them off automatically.

ALSO- about movies: God has blessed me with a few small victories in life to be able to tell people that I’d rather not go with them to the movies and to tell them exactly why I opted out. I was told things like “I don’t envy your choices” and “Oh”, but it felt good to take a stand for God and to glorify him with my decisions and the justifications thereof.
