St. Patrick's Day is not just a holiday about Irish stuff. It isn't just a day for remembering we have that green suit jacket in the closet, or having an excuse for pinching our party-pooping friends. (You know who you are!)

It's a day for remembering the "missionary mindset" that all Christians should adopt and encourage. It's a real holiday with a real reason behind it. Much like Christmas get's turned into materialism and Easter gets turned into egg laying bunnies, St. Patrick's day is about so much more than green beer and shamrocks.

Marriage: It’s not black and white

It has come to my attention that some of the Christian leaders that I admire have a certain belief that is unbiblical. Not that I'm surprised by that. Certainly I don't expect to agree with anyone all the time. But this particular position is so completely unsupported by Scripture, is apparently more popular than I thought, and is directly affecting friends of mine, that I have decided it warrants a post. Granted, it's a post that most people probably won't see. But this is my only "pulpit" right now, so it must suffice.

Thoughts from Sunday…on Monday: Loving Family

At the suggestion of a beautiful woman (which don't always pan out, but this was an exceptionally beautiful woman, so it's fine) I have decided to start a new series called "Thoughts from Sunday....on Monday." In this series I will give brief thoughts from my experiences on the previous Sunday. Should spark some interesting discussion.

Yesterday I gave testimony in our local body of believers, more like an admonishment really, on the importance of showing love to family members even when they do things that are wrong or hurtful. I was so inspired by the thought that I proceeded to preach a "sermonette" on the topic to the residents of Green Acres Nursing Home later that afternoon.
