It's a day for remembering the "missionary mindset" that all Christians should adopt and encourage. It's a real holiday with a real reason behind it. Much like Christmas get's turned into materialism and Easter gets turned into egg laying bunnies, St. Patrick's day is about so much more than green beer and shamrocks.

In this series I will give brief thoughts from my experiences on the previous Sunday. Should spark some interesting discussion.

Yesterday I gave testimony in our local body of believers, more like an admonishment really, on the importance of showing love to family members even when they do things that are wrong or hurtful. I was so inspired by the thought that I proceeded to preach a "sermonette" on the topic to the residents of Green Acres Nursing Home later that afternoon.

Finding no one to get the job done, the Lord himself takes the task in hand. He accomplishes salvation for mankind on his own! Simply because he loved us and could not bear to have us separated from him.

Isaiah 59 – Part 1

Friends, if we want our Father in heaven to heal our land, repentance comes first. "If my people...will humble themselves...and turn from their wicked ways...then I will hear from heaven and heal their land." (2 Chr. 7:14) This is not earning grace or favor from God, or even earning deliverance. That is because repentance is not a work. It is giving up. Simply admitting that God is right, and I am wrong. It is forsaking sin and turning to him. That is not a work of our flesh, it is the work of the Holy Spirit.
But you might say, "Hey preacher, that is right! Everyone else needs to turn back to God. But I am a Christian, and I love the Lord. Surely I don't need repentance. I'm doing pretty well. I'm not as bad as some. I'm better than most." My dear Christian friends, who are called by the name of Christ, we need to take a good hard look at our own lives and see how we are contributing to the overall apostasy of the Church. Let's continue...

So guess what counts as a person according to the federal government? According to "CoverageforAll.org", which is a group founded to help educate people on what health care coverages they are eligible to receive, when determining how many PERSONS live in your home you can count a pregnant woman as 2. In other words, the federal government allows you to count the unborn child as part of your household so that you can determine how far under/over the poverty line you are.

We call her the “five-minute lady.” She usually comes to the drive-thru, and no matter what she orders, or what time of day it is, or how prepared we are to help her move along...she always takes about five minutes at the window. She's always got to have the right amount of napkins (four), or perhaps she didn't order the right drink, or she wants to add some dessert. Of course she has to ask how much each dessert costs in order to make her decision.

Sometimes over the past four years I have looked down at the "SRS" light on the dashboard of my '95 Honda Accord and wondered (thinking it had something to do with the airbags) if they would deploy if I ever had an accident or just got bumped in the front. I imagined what it would be like to see them explode in my face, and how hard a hit it would take for them to inflate.

When I first met Mr. Ted, I am somewhat ashamed to say, I assumed he was mentally handicapped somehow, or at least a little socially autistic. I mean, he walked in an unusual way, smiled very often, and blinked almost incessantly when he spoke to anyone. I figured he was maybe one of those who are bright enough to get out in the world a little, but whose parents still care for their basic needs. Or they just sent him in from the car with a $10 bill for his lunch.
